As my passions have evolved, I've continually re-shaped my career to follow.

When I went to college, I chose to major in broadcast journalism. Like most people, I assumed that I’d follow my degree and secure closely related jobs for the rest of my career. But it turns out, when you’re 18, you get a lot of things wrong.

After graduation, I was offered an amazing role in television production at the Food Network. While I more or less enjoyed it, something wasn’t quite right.

A couple months in, I pinpointed the problem: I needed more opportunities to flex my creativity and engage with clients and partners to illuminate the brand’s story. Suddenly, it hit me that I should be working with the marketing team, not production.

I was feeling more energized than ever with having discovered my “calling”, but I felt stuck when it came to actually making it happen. This wasn’t a transition that most people made.

Was I supposed to get a second degree? A certificate? I could have, but the truth was I had everything I needed right at my fingertips. Through my experience, I’ve come to believe that nobody is ever stuck in a career that isn’t right for them.

Now, I guide other people through the scary process of making a career pivot, by training them how to reframe their experience and network in an industry where they may have zero connections.
